Top Ten Episodes of Star Trek, the Next Generation

January 15th, 2009

I was thinking about this with a friend the other day, so here is my list (not in any order, although Inner Light is my top favorite ep)

1. Inner Light
2. Darmok
3. Measure of a Man
4. Family
5. Cause and Effect
6. Disaster
7. The Host
8. A Matter of Honor
9. Parallels
10. Chain of Command

The finale All Good Things is also up there, but it kinda doesn’t count. Finales are kinda their own category.  :-D

I know Best of Both Worlds is usually in people’s top 10, as well as Yesterday’s Enterprise, but they only make my personal top 20. I find the others I listed more compelling.

I also like the Nth Degree, Elementary My Dear Data, Remember Me and Lower Decks. The Q episode where he is made mortal (Q Who, I think), the transporter mishap one where Picard and some others are made into children, and The Child also stick out in my mind.

What are others’ top ten? Do you remember the episodes I listed?

What’s the name of the episode where Jordi bonds with a Borg named Hugh? Love that one. And the one when Q takes the gang to Nottingham Forest - my favorite quote of all of TNG is “I am NOT a merry man.”

My favorite episodes are heavy on the Borg or Q, light on the Deanna Troi.

Oh, Mudslide, I LOVE that one with the Borg boy. I think it’s called I, Hugh. Hmmm, that shoud be in my top ten…what should i push out then? Maybe Remember Me.

The Nottingham one is hysterical. Darn, what’s the name of that one?

My faves tend to do be Worf centric. Speaking of which, I also love the one where he meets his mate. She was awesome.

Inner Light was a great episode, and very bittersweet as well. I’ve wondered what it would have been like, had Riker been the one on the planet instead of Picard.

WOW! You really know your Star Trek. I remember all of the episodes you listed but I don’t know that I could recall them all from memory.

I do love the little quirks we see in each character. Data is probably my favorite.

Anything with Q in it were the best, I think, his interaction with the crew, especially Picard was pure genius…

I agree that anything with Q has to be right near the top of my list.
